God in His Providence has led Starkdale out of the EPC for lurching left. The Evangelical Presbyterian Church has officially embraced Side B Sodomy aka Gay Celibate Theology– in effect by permitting so called “Celibate” homosexual ordination. In short, the worldly ideology and false teaching of Celibate Homosexuality is now normalized. The Wilderness of the World has breached the Garden Walls of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, and the walls are unmendable. The hedge has been compromised and the “briers and thorns” of homosexuality are now growing within (e.g., Isaiah 5:5-6). The EPC is now in the same position (Mutatis Mutandis) where the PCUSA was at from 1996–2011 regarding Celibate Homosexuality and ordination. The war is lost. However, Starkdale’s mission is not lost.
By God’s mercy and grace the vote to dismiss from the EPC on August 30th was decisively in the affirmative, well beyond the two-thirds needed. Phase I is complete. Phase II begins in earnest. Session has appointed a Denominational Steering Committee to explore our long-term ecclesiastical future possibly within a NAPARC member denomination—a more faithful and durable Reformed communion of historic Presbyterianism.
For now we are an Independent Confessional Presbyterian Congregation, holding to the Westminster Standards and Presbyterian Polity, while faithfully proclaiming the gospel of Jesus via the Mandate of the Great Commission: reaching and gathering and perfecting God’s elect by teaching his beloved Saints to obey all He’s commanded until the end of this age. “The LORD has done great things for us; we are glad.” –Psalm 126:3 To God alone be the glory!
